Let’s Stop The Stupid!

Why is it that little old me can watch some things going on and figure out a better way?  Yes, I have been around for over 60 years, and I have a ton of experience behind me, but some stuff is just plain stupid!

CHANGE CONGRESS NOT OUR CONSTITUTION!

We all agree that our elected officials are way out of whack.  Our Constitution was created by a brilliant group of people (meaning more than just one person) who were tired of being beaten down by tyrants.  I refuse to believe that any American can want to go back to that form of government!  We make the choices.  We make the rules.  We decide whom we want to govern We The People, and it should NEVER be a tyrant!  Changes should be like these:

  • We need to put a halt to Congress voting its own raises.
  • We need to put a halt to run-away Bills.  If something relates to the Bill at hand, then it’s ready to vote on.  Then if a Congressperson decides to sneak (oops, add) something of their own desire into a Bill, just so they can get a kickback from one of their constituents, – NO!
  • We need to put a halt to kickbacks and pocket linings.  Congress gets into their office by We The People electing them.  We pick them based on facts of what they have done to help our needs, and their plans are to assist us in the future.  When they get money from anywhere that is not from We The People taxes (which should be their one and ONLY source of income for their position), they become corrupt and vile.  They develop some type of brain damage at that point, and they forget how they got to where they are and precisely who put them there.  It has to stop!!  I firmly believe that it is the #1 reason our Politicians are so screwed up.
  • We need to put HUGE FINES on any Politician caught taking money from anything other than We The People approved earnings (i.e., taxes).  Yes, monetary fines, but not just that.  Take away any special items they may have been awarded with the job title: a car, nice furniture for their office, a hot secretary (yep, give them someone over the age of 50 with vast office experience – no flirting allowed!), or other things that an average business professional would not have.  Oh, a cell phone could be a great one!  Take it away for just one week and see them freak out!

We need to go back to making it the job that a person wanted because they wanted to help make our country better.

LEAVE THE 2ND AMENDMENT ALONE.

We The People, have a right to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our possessions.  The guns are not the problem, so taking away the 2nd Amendment will not change anything.  It is the people who abuse them illegally that are the real issue.

I have been closely watching all the reports on shootings in our county (and a number overseas) and do not see the gun doing wrong.  It is the person that holds it.  How many of the shooters have or had some kind of mental issue?  Too many!  I say let’s go to the beginning:  The purchase.  Why don’t we require some type of flag on a background check that enables a seller to know the person who wants to purchase has a mental issue?

I want to be very clear here: I don’t care what the issue is; I care that there is one.  It could be as simple as getting over the death of a loved one or as severe as wanting to shoot out classmates; it doesn’t matter.  Mental Health professionals should be required, by law, to place a marker on their background check records.  No further explanation is needed.  They should also be required to keep records of why this person was tagged in case of emergency.  If a seller then sells to a person who has the mental issue marker on their background check, they would then be required to deny any sales of guns or ammo to that individual.  Then, if that individual has a problem with it, let them take it up with their Mental Health Provider.   Perhaps, in the long run, this may help the individual.  Without a gun to act out on and forced to discuss it further with their Mental Health Provider, maybe they could get the genuine mental health aid they obviously need.  The only other addition to this action would be a way to remove it by the Mental Health Provider if they deem their client is no longer a threat to themselves or others.  Yes, this puts it all into the hands of the Provider, as it should be.  Their client is welcome to obtain another provider or dispute any and all claims they want, but until everything is decent and cleared, there is no gun!

I also understand gun collectors and their need to obtain the best.  They are just like any other collector; however, a collector of paintings or stamps does not have to worry about someone taking an object from their collection and killing them with it.  When they choose to collect guns like AK47s or AR15s, they should have to provide proof of security to local police.  Let them have it for their collection, but ensure they are locked away securely enough so that not just anyone can easily steal.

Once local police have verified (and documented) that the facility is as secure as can be, they will be provided a document of some sort.  This would then make the collector responsible for anything that happens should an item from their collection be stolen.  They would be made a second party to whatever shooting occurred (unless reported a.s.a.p. to authorities).  This idea should also pertain to parents who do not lock up their guns properly.  They would be just as responsible for damages their child may do with them.  It is also in hopes that a Collector can keep what they love collecting, but the rest of the world would be a bit more secure.  I do not understand the reason for just anybody to carry military-grade guns.  They are created to help our outstanding military personnel to do their duty.  They have the right to bear arms to protect our nation and Allies.

RESPECT THE COUNTRY.

I was born and raised here in the USA.  I love and respect it very much.  I do not love or appreciate what is happening to it, starting with language!  We speak English here – learn it!  If I were to choose to move to France, German, or China permanently, I would respectfully learn their language, use it, and be proud to do so.  I do not care what your reason for choosing to move to our country is; I do care that you do not respect it.  We open our borders, take you in, feed you, clothe you, and give you vouchers to help get you back on your feet.  We provide work programs to help you be a contributing member of our society.

The very least you can do in return is to speak our language and respect our laws.  Oh, and Media people (especially TV – regular, cable, and streaming), STOP PLAYING SPANISH SPEAKING COMMERCIALS ON ENGLISH SPEAKING TV AND MOVIES!!  This has become a HUGE  issue with me.  If I watch a foreign channel or movie, I could expect to see/hear commercials in the same language.  RESPECT OUR COUNTRY!  Once again, if I choose to permanently move to a foreign country, I WILL learn and use their language – so stop catering to them and try catering to the country that is buying into your stuff.  We all know you have the technology – SO USE IT!

One more thing:  come here legally!  This mass crossing has to stop.  If you have that many people trying to get out of your home area, maybe you should think of ways to save your country first.  We cannot fix the whole world on our own.  Take responsibility for your country, your life, your way of living.  We can aid you as much as possible, but we cannot instantly cure everything for you.  Instead of coming here and trying to change us to your ways, fix your own home first!!

*******

For those of you who have read this far, let me explain.  I am not mean or angry; I am just fed up.  I worked for the government for 11 years and saw all the lazy ways they work.  It takes a herd of them to pass any decent laws, and then they still screw it up.  I sympathize with the tragedies others may be going through, but I have had a ton of my own.  I made it through the rain and will continue to do so because that is how I was raised (a whole different subject for another time).  With age comes a lot of knowledge, and I am so tired of “stupid” that I could just scream.
