I am a learn-a-holic. Can’t help myself so I guess it falls in the category of O.C.D. My email inbox this morning brought me a new word:
adjective | FUSS-tee
1 British : impaired by age or dampness : moldy
2 : saturated with dust and stale odors : musty
3 : rigidly old-fashioned or reactionary
Now, since I am impaired by age (ok, ok sometimes dampness – moldy), and on occasion, I may have stale odors (summer gardening brings this out the worst). I only get saturated with dust when I am doing something with wood (during the summer this is also a lot – repairs as needed stuff.). However, the last definition I cannot escape: rigidly old-fashioned or reactionary. Yep, that is me.
I am actually very proud of the last bit. My mother and her family survived the depression by hanging on to old-fashioned thoughts, ideas, and methods. She was smart to pass that habit on to her children. The only one I am still not completely sure was a good idea, was the “dumping” stuff.
In the city, you are used to putting stuff in your trash container for a large truck to pick up. This truck then takes it to some far-off imaginary dumping land that you may never see (or want to see).
Our childhood farm had its own dump. Our current farm has both.
So in the spirit of our changing times: May you learn something new every day, and may it make you a better person!

Paraproskodian sentence for this post:
“Evening news is where they begin with ‘Good evening’, and then proceed to tell you why it isn’t.”
