How did I Get So Twisted, So Fast?

I am so tired of always having so many things on my “to-do” list that I feel like I am drowning!  I have a day timer, calendars on my walls and cel phone, and even a mini-day timer in my purse.  I have read tons and tons of other’s books, blogs, methods, and ideas.  I have even purchased and downloaded several of those methods to no avail!

I recently downloaded a free e-book from one of my fav authors:

The Anti-Procrastination Habit by S.J. Scott

There are three reasons why I picked this book and this author:

  1. That sinking feeling of drowning led me to procrastinate too many things.
  2. When he publishes a new book/e-book, he offers it free to several of his more faithful followers (like me) for a limited number of days. After that period, it will cost.
  3. He got me back into writing again after too many years away. It is something I love to do, but life got in my way too much.  He made it an easy habit of building back up again, and it’s been working!

(I want to note here that I am not getting any type of promotional thingy here for stating that I like his works.  I just want to share what is working for me, why it is working, and how it came to be a part of me.)

I just downloaded it last week Thursday and was only in the first chapter when I had to put it to the test.

I had built my huge (he states to write down everything you must do, need to do, and would like to do over the next 12 months – no farther out than that!) to-do list, then pulled out the top five.  I stuck with it on Friday and Saturday and was so excited – IT WORKED!  I felt like I was able to take my life back again.  Then Saturday night hit – life hit again!

My daughter came over in hysterical tears and holding her head and right arm – her boyfriend of three years, just beat her up!  I dropped everything and rushed her off to the hospital.

It was after 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning before we got back home.  I signed the hospital release that I would keep an eye on her due to the goose egg on the back of her head (jerk!).  So, I brought her back home with me.  I did not get to sleep until around 3:00 a.m. (which is usually when I am getting up), which threw off my whole new habit….bummer!

sleepy catI know that “life happens” can pop up at any time.  But it couldn’t wait just one more week?  I just wanted a firm grasp of my new anti-procrastinating process before I had to slip a weirdness in!

Sunday was spent trying to catch up (mainly on sleep). Therefore, I did not get any of my main projects handled – grrr!  Monday, I was able to get back on track, sort of, and the greenhouse plants are letting me know they appreciate it!  We are starting to gather enough veggies and fruits to begin the fall processing – woo hoo!!

8-5 how we process foods-beets

(My sister hard at the beets in our fav processing area – the porch! LOL)

Wish me luck, and if you feel as buried as I do at times, check out the book.  It’s the one thing that is working in my life right now.
